Weatherstone Reminders
To ensure we continue to have a safe and clean subdivision please keep these things in mind:
- Keep your front coach light lit. Your light, along with others in our neighborhood, makes it safer for drivers, walkers, pets and helps deter crime.
- Clean up after your pets (collecting waste and tossing it into bushes of common areas does not qualify). This is especially important in our common areas like the park and boulevards. Dogs are allowed in parks as long as they are on a leash (less than 6 feet in length).
- When walking at dusk or dark, wear bright or reflective clothing. Drivers have a difficult time seeing pedestrians and pets that blend in with their environment. Also consider carrying a flash light.
- In winter months keep fire hydrants clear of snow. Snow-buried fire hydrants can add 5-10 minutes to response times in an emergency.
- If your property is near a sewer grate, ensure the grate is free from debris (leaves, branches, etc.) to keep water flowing freely.
- Don’t feed the deer. We remind neighbors that it is not allowed to feed deer in New Berlin. The DNR tells us of some of the downfalls of feeding deer including: attracting significant numbers of deer which increases the risk of disease transmission, causing stress or injury to deer through fighting, and heavy browsing of ornamental trees and shrubs. Also congregating deer can attract predators or increase chasing by domestic dogs, which may add additional stress.
- If you have garlic mustard or Buckthorn plants/trees at your home please pull and dispose of. These are rapidly spreading aggressive plants/trees and have been a problem throughout our county and is slowly choking out other desirable native plant species.
- Dumping of leaves, branches or brush is not allowed in neighborhood common areas or the Weatherstone Boulevard. All yard waste should be taken to the New Berlin Recycling Center.
